I would/did stay there…

Stayed: Hotel Covell

November 21, 2016

a friend of mine asked me to go on a spur of the moment design trip with her to los angeles. of course i obliged, but have to admit i had many preconceived ideas about the whole la experience. you see, i had never been and i had heard from many people what to expect…some of which was not positive. my expectations were optimistic, but not overly high. guess what? i was pleasantly surprised…the trip ended up being an inspirational whirlwind. i am officially a fan.

of course, it didn’t hurt that we stayed at truly my latest favorite hotel…the hotel covell. it did not feel like a hotel at all…it reminded me of staying in an apartment belonging to a very stylish, cool uncle. we were completely relaxed, and again, my inspiration went through the roof. my only regret is that i didn’t take nearly enough photos.

i need to plan another trip as soon as possible…just because i need additional photos…

beautiful…also, i should mention that if you plan on visiting, grab your reservations well in advance…there are only 5 suites and i imagine they fill up quickly.

i am not done with los angeles just yet…i promise…

I Would Stay There…Rivertown Lodge.

Rivertown_Exterior

it’s funny how when you have been doing this for as long as i have you will bump into a space and recognize the designer just from the photographs…such is the case with rivertown lodge. i had been perusing the blog of another favorite arent & pyke and rivertown lodge popped up…immediately, i had recognized the work of workstead out of brooklyn. i have had the pleasure of featuring workstead a couple of times on bliss and love their work more and more each time i do.

rivertown lodge is about two-hour train ride from manhattan in the historical town of hudson, new york. previously a theater built in the 1920’s, rivertown is now a 27 room hotel that i am dying to visit. i do so love a space that is impeccably designed as well as welcoming and this lodge seems to be it.

please do take note of the beautiful workstead light fixtures…if you are unable to sneak away for a visit, perhaps you can shop workstead and bring a few originals to your own space…

Stayed: California’s Central Coast

March 28, 2016

as i mentioned earlier, the frenches have been traveling. we are home again. however, my heart is still back on california’s central coast: carmel, big sur, point lobos, and the rest. just when i thought i couldn’t be surprised by the beauty this country has to offer…then i find myself surrounded by all of this.

those of you following along on my instagram are aware of my newfound love affair…those who do not, please do…

oh and if you are looking for a clean, cosy place to stay in carmel do check out the fireplace inn…such a nice spot.
