Gallatin House Presented by Workstead

September 22, 2015

i know i have had dreams that look a lot like this.

you may remember this home from a few years back…a love-at-first-sight-moment that is still vivid in my mind. workstead design firm in brooklyn is responsible for both. founded in 2009 by stephanie brechbuehler and robert highsmith, workstead focuses on interior design, lighting, architecture, furniture and exhibitions and does so in a way that seems to be suited specifically for me.

Workstead’s aim is to design responsible works that create a sense of place for both the objects they contain and the people that experience them. Their palette is strong and rich, yet simple and efficient.

oh and it seems the focus also lies in the best daydreams ever…

gallatin house is a country home that would make the perfect forever home as well.

Chair Pairs

most of the time i think of myself as ecclectic…so much so that my furniture rarely matches (even my dining room chairs are various colors and designs), i pull items from here and there and sort of love my mixed up ways. however, recently i took a big old step, i purchased matching chairs (more on that later) and i do believe images such as these are to blame…

i also thinking that if you truly love something perhaps 2 of that thing can only be better. right? also, strangely enough, this new matching chair thing kind of makes me feel a smidge more fancy…

I Would Stay There…Rivertown Lodge.

Rivertown_Exterior

it’s funny how when you have been doing this for as long as i have you will bump into a space and recognize the designer just from the photographs…such is the case with rivertown lodge. i had been perusing the blog of another favorite arent & pyke and rivertown lodge popped up…immediately, i had recognized the work of workstead out of brooklyn. i have had the pleasure of featuring workstead a couple of times on bliss and love their work more and more each time i do.

rivertown lodge is about two-hour train ride from manhattan in the historical town of hudson, new york. previously a theater built in the 1920’s, rivertown is now a 27 room hotel that i am dying to visit. i do so love a space that is impeccably designed as well as welcoming and this lodge seems to be it.

please do take note of the beautiful workstead light fixtures…if you are unable to sneak away for a visit, perhaps you can shop workstead and bring a few originals to your own space…
